Sandy McLaren is a senior executive with extensive experience in Finance, Risk & Compliance within the energy and manufacturing sector on an international scale. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation and his MBA in Sustainable Development while at Ernst & Young and held the position of Manager of Enterprise Risk Management. Most recently he held the position of Director of Risk Management for an independent global power producer with significant contributions to their bottom line, their D&O coverage and their operational risk requirements. His passion for the renewable energy sector has been furthered by business development, investor relations, risk management and finance roles through our tailored business solutions.
 

At Advantage, Sandy assists several of our busy CFO & CEO clients on acquisition and business development opportunities providing innovative solutions that are tailored to our clients time frame and budget. His understanding of and ability to build of complex economic models, finance & tax, risk and compliance ensure our clients receive excellent support on their acquisitions and business development opportunities. Several of our CFO's outsource their IFRS, MD&A and Due Diligence work to Sandy and benefit from his quick turn around and detail of work that truly impresses many of the Big 4 firms that work closely with Sandy on several projects.

Christy joined our firm to take ownership of the recruitment of junior associates for legal and engineering. She has obtained a BA in Psychology from University of New Brunswick with a very impressive undergraduate research background for a world leading professor and the Canadian Chair for adolescent health. Christy was also very fortunate to play on the UNB rugby team and has played at the international level in her sport. Her background in coaching and mentoring is an ideal fit for her new career in recruitment.

 

Christy recently moved from Fredericton where her immediate family members include: Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick, a Senior Partner, Personal Injury and Litigation and several civil, electrical and environmental disciplines. She has grown up understanding the technical language of both engineering and legal and thus has an excellent background to recruit for these roles at the associate level of engineering and legal. Christy's personal and professional network include the top graduates from the Maritimes and Alberta in Law and Engineering which are highly desirable to our clients for both in-house and firm opportunities.
